Innovative selective ultrasound technology
UltraShape technology applies focused therapeutic acoustic waves for selective lysis of adipocytes, using a predetermined amount of ultrasound energy across the subdermal fat layer.
The ultrasound waves generate a mechanical effect in the confined focal volume, causing fat cell membranes to rupture. The mechanical effect ensures that only adipose tissue within the targeted area is disrupted. Surrounding tissue (blood and lymph vessels, skin tissue and peripheral nerves) is not impacted by the process and remains intact.
Real Time Guidance by an Advanced Tracking System
The UltraShape tracking system includes a software algorithm that maps the 3-D treatment zone. Precision and safety are underpinned by an optical image guidance system that ensures the following:
a) Prevents treatment beyond the pre-marked zone
b) Precludes repeat treatments
The system also records and synchronizes patient position during treatment so that patient movement can occur without impacting treatment procedures.
Patient intake procedure
Every patient is first examined by a specialized Ultrashape physician. This physician will make sure that there are no contraindications and that the patient can safely undergo the treatment. After explaining the possibilities and limitations of the treatment the physician will determine which areas can be treated and what size and number of treatments will be necessary to obtain satisfactory results.
Patient preparation
The preparation consists mainly of taking measurements and photographs. Height, weight, fat percentage and body circumference are measured for reference. The area which is to treated will be outlined with a marker and photographed from different angles. The patient will lay down on the treatment bed with the outlined are facing upwards towards the tracking camera. The outlined area will be boxed in with tape and absorbing self adhesive drapes. The drapes are necessary because the Ultrashape transducer uses oil to optimize contact with the skin, excess oil will be absorbed by the drapes. Colored stickers will be placed on the borders of the drapes as optical markers for the tracking system. The Ultrashape tracking and guidance computer will scan the outlined area and calculate the treatment.
Ultrashape treatment
After applying some contact oil the transducer will be placed on the treatment area and the first acoustical pulse will be applied. Then the transducer will be moved with millimeter accuracy following the tracking and guidance system to apply hundreds of pulses until the treatment area is completely covered, usually this will take one to one and a half hour. The absorbing drapes and contact oil will be removed to finish the treatment.
Post treatment advice
Ultrashape is high-tech and groundbreaking but it’s not magic. The cell material and content must leave the body using the normal natural systems. This triglycerides (fat) will pass through the liver and be available as an energy source. It’s imperative for good results that patients keep to a negative calorie intake for five days and keep a low percentage carbohydrate (sugars, pasta, bread, potatoes, alcohol) diet for three weeks.
